Hunter Trials

A great day out was had by all yesterday at the first of our hunter trials for this year - run by the Westmeath Hunt at Annaharvey on a new course with wonderful spring weather - what more could anyone want! The ground conditions were excellent on the day and Sam and Aaron spent many long days getting the fences and roadways into excellent condition for the event. It always looks so easy on the actual day of the event that one could easily think that no effort is required at all to have a hunter trials or similar event on the farm but nothing could be further from the truth - having said that we appreciate the opportunity to run events as it allows us to develop the cross country course which in turn makes it so much better for our visitors from abroad & Ireland who come to Annaharvey for their equestrian holidays, which is what we are really all about.
The Indoor league is progressing well - Orla Carroll came 1st in the maxi this week on Natal which was a great achievement for this well suited pair.
A welcome visitor this week is Amelie - here on a short break from Sweden/Denamrk where she is studying veterinary she is down in Wexford with Roy & Rachael getting first hand experience of lambing and all thing associated with sheep! We love to see her coming to visit and is one of our adopted daughters after sending over a year with us a few years ago - She thinks this is her 9th visit to us!
St Patrick's Day we have a ride out organised - starting at 11.00 am it will be 2 hrs of cross country and hacking so come along and join us for a fun morning
