News letter 16th January 2012

Well here we are again at the beginning of another new year - 2011 is behind us & we are looking forward to a busy & exciting 2012. We have enjoyed a lovely break over the Christmas holidays after a challenging few weeks in November & December - we had our usual Santa's Farm which is a great event here for all of us but takes it's toll in that there is a lot of work getting set up for it both mentally & physically! each year we try to come up with something new & different so there is quite a bit of "brainstorming" taking place in early November to be put into action by the end of the month so we are ready for the 1st weekend in December. This year we had a "fairyland" theme which was a great success and all the families seemed to enjoy themselves - Santa has now gone back to Lapland for a well deserved rest.
Early January is spent tidying up the place and putting away all the Christmas lights & generally dismantling the maze etc. and the past week the lads have been busy taking out the surface of the indoor arena and replacing it with a new surface - this is now complete and looks good, so hopefully it will work well - the next few weeks will tell that tale!
In the house we have been busy pulling out all the furniture & spring cleaning, along with redecorating some of the bedrooms & bathrooms - hard work but actually very therapeutic - also it gives a great feeling of satisfaction when a room is back to normal & looking fresh & cosy.
Sam, Aisling and Maeve are just back for South Africa where they were on holidays with Aisling's family - we missed them over Christmas but we had all the rest of the family + extras so that compensated. It was great fun having the little ones being so excited about Santa - he very generously brought a Bike & a pink tractor, so they were very happy. This week we have 2 birthdays to celeberate -both Lucy & Katy are within a few days of each other so tomorrow we are going to a birthday party.
This week coming the riding school reopens, and we are looking forward to seeing all the riders back again - holidays are great but it is nice to get order back into our lives again, and a routine. We are starting the indoor league on Feb 17th ,and there is a Dressage show on Feb 5th with the first of the Hunter Trials on March 11th and a Painting Workshop on March 3&4 - so all systems go!
We wish you all a very Happy & Prosperous New Year
Best wishes,
